Our Dream Home!!!
My husband and I have been planning our dream home for a little over a year. We are so lucky and blessed to be able to live in the country where we live just across the street so we can see all of the updates and it is so much fun! This past year has been a little stressful making decisions that will last forever in our forever home but we have almost made it and we couldn’t be more excited! We are building a 5400 sq ft rambler style home. 4 bedrooms with a bonus room for my sons play room, a movie theater room, 4 bathrooms and lots of fun stuff!
What I Wanted
- A white kitchen with one of a kind backsplash, some Art Deco vibes with lots of yellow gold accent
- A 600 sq ft walk-in closet with a shoe room with leopard print carpet with lots of Rach Parcell vibes from her last home. I have been obsessed with since I have read her blog years ago!
- A movie theater room, we live in Elgin, MN where the closet movie theater is 20-30 minutes away
- 4 bedrooms just Incase we have two more children
- ..that’s all!
What Tom Wanted
- A big garage
- A bar
- A gym
- ...I love him.
So let’s just say we compromised very well!
I may or may not have re-done our plans 4 times. I was so nervous because I have never purchased a home before nor have I built a home before. I wanted it to be fabulous, fun and one of a kind with some farmhouse vibes on the exterior since we live on my in-laws farm where it is so beautiful!
My neighbors include my in-laws, sister-in-law, brother-in-law & my husband's grandpa. We all live in separate homes about 1 mile away from each-other and it is so peaceful. After a long day of talking to people all day I love coming home to peace! That is is my 4 year old isn’t trying to wrestle me!
So now for the fun stuff!!
My Inspiration For The Outside Of The Home!
My husband and I decided on a rambler style rather than a two story because his knees from being a previous professional athlete hurt him. I really wanted a grand staircase with this amazing chandelier I purchased in New Orleans before we built but now I am so happy we went with the open concept.
My Second Favorite Room, The Kitchen!
The inspiration for my kitchen came from my interior designer Jessica Curry!
Our cabinets are custom, but I went with white cabinets (photos below shows a light grey) and a dark black for the center island. I also chose the black slate matte cafe style appliances!
I never knew that appliance shopping would make me just as happy as shoe shopping!
Here's a photo of the kitchen as of a few weeks ago in the process of the build out!
Her desk next to the window. Which I totally coped because this is where I will blog! It was my husbands idea to turn the home so my view is not the cows. Can you believe I live next to cows?! The glam mom fell in love with the farm boy! That was his professional mma, ufc fighter name! I wouldn’t change it for the world!
And her center island is SO beautiful! I have one similar that is being custom made, I can’t wait until it comes in at the end of February!
Here's a little inspiration of what my closet will look like from my interior designer, Jessica Curry.
The room to the right, by the small window, will by my shoe room and the inner corner when you walk in will my glam station!
The larger closet will be the clothes closet.
I love when I go to one of my best friends home Kelly and we play dress up and hang out in her closet. I wanted that for myself and we are only building once, so you might as well get what you want!
Here are some photos of my closet as of a few weeks ago during the build out...
The window is where my desk will be, then my clothes closet & center island will be in here too!
This is the beginning stage of my shoe room!!!
My glam station corner! To the right, my builder will be building in a shelf where my lotions and potions will be going! I need those for my skin, ladies you understand!!
The Master Bathroom!!!
This flooring may be my favorite! It is a custom marble floor to be cut for this finish. Now I love anything outside of the normal and I’m the person who is always taking risks and wants to start trends. I love black and anything different so let me introduce to you my master bathroom!
For my master bath, I wanted an amazing free standing tub where I can have wine! My interior designer designed a little nook for my wine and my builder brought it to life!
I was going to go with a white tub, they had pink and my husband thought I should have gone with that because pink is my favorite color but when I saw the black I fell in love and that is what I’m getting! How amazing right?!
Maybe I’m biased because I love baths! My husband wanted a waterfall shower and I am excited to see his yellow gold shower head come to life!
Next I fell in love with these mirrors from Lulu & Georgia and found them on sale a few months ago at 30% off so had to purchase it then!
My Black + White Dining Room!
The inspiration, I totally found from my friend and a woman who inspires me so much Debbie Price with Zen Custom Homes dining room idea book and fell in love with the wallpaper!
So I needed to have a round table from my inspiration and as I was shopping my husband really wanted a rectangle. As I was like what?! You have not come to any meetings (because he is so busy working on the farm) I picked everything out with my interior designer. He is going to walk in to a surprised home let’s just say! (Insert laughing here!)
I was looking, shopping and came across an amazing rectangle table! I couldn’t believe it! I showed him 3 options and we both fell in love with the rectangle. It fits perfectly with my black and white theme though!
I just have to go shopping for chairs with my interior decorator bestie Kelly (who has the most amazing home and closet by the way) her taste is amazing! I want velvet but I have a toddler and I want more babies so maybe in a few years I’ll go from leather dining room chairs to velvet!
The Main Family Room!
The main family room is on the main level with the fireplace. My interior designer and I went with an amazing backsplash that is metallic and looks like flames. I also went with just one built in cabinet piece so I can mix up the other side with chairs, art work or the Christmas tree!
For our master bedroom my interior designer and I decided on black carpet which I am so excited about! I fell in love with this amazing chandelier from restoration hardware, the crystal collection.
I fell in love with it when I went to Borboleta headquarters in Salt Lake City and I was going to put it in my living room on the main floor however it was too much so it is now going in our bedroom!
My husband honestly right now has a little spot in our closet so he is actually really excited about his closet! Everyone laughs about the size of mine to his but he says he’s really excited about it! Opposites attract I’m telling you!!
Laundry Room Vibes!
For our laundry room I went shopping with one of my besties Aynsley for appliances and we purchased the same washer and dryer!
I would like to give a big social media shout out to my dear friend Aynsley who is building during the same time as me however her home just got finished and I can’t wait to gift her her home warming presents! When I was frustrated she gave me her interior designer and my life instantly got rid of stress! It was so much fun picking things out together, venting together and celebrating our new homes together! I love you Aynsley!
Powder Room Inspo!
For my inspiration for the powder room which is next to the dining room, across from the kitchen and next to the laundry room. Again I totally copied a woman who inspired me from her powder room! She has an amazing mirrored vanity with gorgeous wallpaper and I instantly fell in love.
My powder room is much smaller so I went with a smaller version of her vanity and a different type of wallpaper...a more Art Deco. Actually, it is the same pictured below for my glam station, however we went with a lighter color wallpaper for my glam room but the same print.
Not pictured on the main floor:
- Mud room
I am so excited to see our home come alive! The main floor is my little baby and downstairs is going to be so much fun! I am still debating on what colors and everything to do for the basement. I’ll update you later once I know!
I hope you are loving my style and excited to tour my home once it’s finished!
Until next time, have a glass of champagne for me!
